The Jewell Residence is a to-the-studs renovation and addition, located on a deep lot in Bouldin Creek.  From the street, the project fits its neighborhood context:  a bungalow with a simple gable roof line and horizontal pine siding.  The addition—a primary ensuite on the lower level, and kids’ rooms/bath upstairs—also features a gable roof and pine siding, but its form and materials express a more contemporary disposition.  As the project extends toward the back of the property, it yields to an old live oak and opens into a backyard living space that is nestled under tree canopy.
